In 2021, while attending Valor Church in Knob Noster, Mo. (a church plant that was started in 2016), God began showing us the many broken and lost people in the nearby town of Warrensburg. Specifically, we saw families that were hurting and struggling to fulfill basic necessities, a growing college, and transitional military community that didn’t have a church home, along with the local community that desperately needed to hear the gospel and find connection during the worst parts of the pandemic. It became very clear that God was stirring in our hearts and calling us to plant a church in Warrensburg. As residents here in Warrensburg for the last few decades, we love “the ‘Burg:”. So, with this vision from God, we began praying, and God responded as He began to confirm this call through events and people around us.
One of those events had us attending a birthday party at Twister Sports. While there, it became evident that this was where God was calling us to plant. We happened to run into one of the owners a couple of months later and had a quick conversation about ministry in passing. He and his wife invited us over for dinner later that week and they shared that God was moving in their lives and they wanted to use their business to glorify Him. We shared what God had laid on our hearts, and they were all in! They talked it over with the other owners and they all agreed to let us use their building for service on Sunday mornings. What a God-size confirmation and huge blessing!
In the fall, we built a core team of believers, who God had also been cultivating and equipping to help us plant the church. Then, as 2022 kicked off, we began developing the church vision/mission, and God started to really show us how He works all things together. First, God showed favor by partnering us with the North American Mission Board, as we became certified church planters. This gave us access to great resources and a network that will allow us to take the gospel even further into our community and nation. Second, as we journeyed into summer, God brought family after family into our launch team who were like minded and eager to join the mission of seeing people restored back to Jesus. We learned that if God is behind it, we don’t have to worry, things will come together, and they did!
All this to say, this is a story only God can orchestrate. It’s His plan, for His glory, to see his people redeemed back to Himself. Valor Church Warrensburg exists to restore broken people, proclaim the truth, and serve the community. To ensure we accomplish what God has set before us, we will courageously follow Jesus with all our heart, soul, and might.
